ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO!

Actually, I just want to brag about all the amazing things I seem to get myself into or involved with.
To the right is a shot of me ------------------------------>>>
next to the brand new $600K Rescue/Pumper that the Taunton Fire Dept. took delivery of just before thanksgiving. Sorry the pic is so dark and doesn't show the massive size of this 40 ft behemoth of a firetruck. It serves as both a front line attack pumper/engine or a heavy rescue vehicle for almost any type rescue situation and it actually has a twin pair of "Jaws of Life" rescue tools. We sold a lot of pancakes to buy this baby..Ha Ha Ha.

Hey, that must be me, the MLB Wannabe or shouldabeen as I stopped to pose in front of the entrance sign at the Cooperstown
All-Star Baseball Camp which is actually located about 45 minutes south of The Hall of Fame in Oneonta, New York. OMG, you should have seen this facility, I wish I was a kid again and my parents had the $3500. it takes to go to this unbelieveable baseball camp. The 8 playing fields were all like major league caliber!

This past summer for the 2nd year in a row, I single handedly organized "Volunteer Firefighter Night" at our local Triple A Stadium. One of the highlights of the evening is a pre-game on field ceremony where we award our Firefighter of the year. This is a very prestigious event. There was also a whole slew of other events that went on. When this evening is over, I have to take a sigh of relief and say, Gordo, You never cease to amaze myself sometime! ha ha ha.

Well, my only claim to fame with the attached video, is the fact that I shot it at this years family reunion and it is priceless. When I got Ma to be-bop and rock in her chair to that music, I could have died. I will cherish this forever Mom!!
I love you, you're way too cute!

So, What can I tell you about the day I went fishing with my good friend Wally Fishmonger out on Otisco Lake. It was a really cool September day '08 as you can see by the jacket and I told Wally I wanted to just fish off the dock with my usual worms and bobber for panfish or something similar...Naahhh, c'mon, let's go out trolling a little way, they say the bass have been hitting he says. I hate bass, they get too big and their dorsal fins are too sharp, and I always get stuck and I'm still a big fat scaredy cat about any fish bigger then my two hands, but nooooo, Wally has to have his way, and OH MY FREAKING GOD, I almost jumped out of the boat when I felt the tug on my line, and when I got first glimpse of this massive 52 inch freak of nature I threw Wally my pole and told him I quit fishing. I let him take it in and I was fine just taking the picture, from THE OTHER END OF THE BOAT!!

This video propbably hasn't been seen by many and it also is pretty neat and something I will cherish. Pop's is definately the Rock, the Patriarch of the Kotars Clan. While I apologize that the video does not have the quality that NBC or CBS Sports would have in following the ball, this tee off shot was truly a beauty.
ps...(my father once told me that beauty is only in the eye of the beholder) But it sure sounded good!
That's all for now bloggers, I have chores to do on this very snowy Sunday afternoon, the last day of November, 2008. Yikes!!! Merry Christmas pretty soon !!

'Cuse Happenings

SYRACUSE, home of the Syracuse Orangemen. At one time, one of the most feared Collegiate Football programs in the country. (Not anymore though) But anyway, our famed gridiron has been home to the Great Jim Brown, #44, Floyd Little, #44, and probably the best # 44, Ernie Davis, who was the 1st black winner of the coveted Heisman Trophy and also part of the 1959 undefeated National Championship team here at the 'Cuse!Did you know that this gifted young athlete, who left such an impact on Syracuse died of leukemia at the tender age of 23 before he ever got to play one minute in the national football league for the Cleveland Browns?

ANYWAY...Universal Pictures, yes from Hollywood, California, decided to do a movie on this great young mans short life. Casting included Rob Brown, Dennis Quaid and Charles Dutton. They named this flick the "Orange Express" and it is due out in October. WELL...Syracuse University, the City of Syracuse and Universal Pictures decided to have the premier showing of this flick in, where else but Da 'Cuse itself and the City decked itself out and we had one hell of a real Hollywood Movie Premier Extrordinair. It was a party like none we've ever seen. The woman and I couldn't afford the $1,000.00 per ticket, nor the $250,00, nor even the $44.00 ticket, so we camped out on the corner of E.Jefferson and S.Salina Streets and gathered in all the ambiance that the celebration could muster. Let's see if i can post a few videos and/or photos>>>

<<<<<<----------------That's Jim & Julie Boeheim!!!......................

So anyway, we had a blast, you can go to google and type in Syracuse orange express or go to http://www.wixt.com/ scroll down and you'll find some really good coverages of this very exciting event.OK, so what else is new in the 'Cuse?

How about our new kitty cat...welllll, we've had him since last winter and his name is Rascal, or as we call him, Jelly Yellow Belly.

Want to see him, ok, you will love him, here ya go--------->>>
Pretty cute, hey?

And so, hey did I tell you all that I was an Emcee at the Syracuse City Hall last Month at the Congolese Community's Flag raising ceremony? Well, I was and here's a pic of me, the Mayor of Syracuse and a couple of beautiful Congolese women who spoke at the ceremony, one is a Professor at Syracuse University. The Congolese are such neat people, I love them ! Jeeeeshh, I never cease to amaze myself!

I also want to brag about my photo that I searched the entire summer for. It is definately my best work, tell me what you think?
It was taken at the New York State Fair right near the front entrance where my Lady and me sat resting our Piggies whilst lapping at some delicious NY State home made Ice Cream from the brand new "NY State Products Store" Yes, I thought as we sat there people watching, that flower over there would make a beautiful photo against the brilliant blue sky background. Oh what a gorgeous day we picked to go to the Great new York State Fair!
The only bummerwas....No Bill or Hillary for us this year :--(
................................................................Not bad huh?----->>>>>>

So, with that, I think I have to go to bed, it's after midnight and I have lots and lots of work to do at the Job tomorrow. I'll have to make a Post on that, because our Company has now shipped 8 workers, the Owner and tons of drying equipment down to Texas, like Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur. My guys tell me the place is just destroyed. They are likening it to the famous "Katrina Storm" as far as wide spread damages. More on that later.

More Oh, ok, one last pic, how bout this one where I met John Walsh...the John Walsh from "America's Most Wanted" this past summer at the Syracuse Jazz Fest. God, I've met so many famous people, you know? I could do a whole blog on that.....Hmmmmmmm, let's see uhm, John F. Kennedy when I was little, Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, Bill and Hillary Clinton (5 times), Chaka Kahn, Aretha Franklin, Governors George Pataki & Elliot (the slut) Spitzer, Bill Mazeroski,

...................................................WANTED MAN-------------->>>>>
Denny McClain (last pitcher to win 30 games in a season), Tommie Agee, Cleon Jones, Ron Swoboda and the infamous Ed Kranepool, the latter 4 from the infamous '69 Mets!
KKKKKKKKK, that's all fer now boyz ~n~ girlz, I think there's more, but, BUT, I'll save it!
Thanks for the Box, I'll get off it now !

Driving the Stars

Recently, I was able to experience one of my fav annual rites. I am a volunteer Chauffer for the Syracuse JazzFest, one of the Country's largest FREE Jazzfests held high up on the campus of the beautiful Onondaga Community College Campus. This year the headliner was Chaka Kahn. Wow Dudes and Dudettes, did she ever get F A TTTT! Sergio Mendes was there on the first night and he was pretty good. Probably one of the coolest cats I got to meet, drive and even hang with, was a Mick Jagger look alike, Mr. Mike Stern of the (this is original) Mike Stern Band. He was so down to earth it was unbelieveable. Hey, here's a shot of me and his boys too. I've also included a really neat pic I took of "Drummer Dave" up on stage during one of the performances. And lastly, how about a short video of how these Kewl Kats really sound? Pretty smooth, I think you'll agree!

Oh my God, how could I, Like forget this!! The world famous, nationally reknown Trumpeter appeared with Mike, the one and only...Randy Brecker. I'll post his pic too cause he was one smooth ass horn tooter. (He's the guy with the trumpet in his mouth and the big gut, Duh)

Oh, and as for the Queen of fried chicken, I did get one shot of her, but it was dark and caught me off guard, so it's a little fuzzy, but she had a big ol ciggy in her mouth. No wonder she didn't sound so good!

Hey, that's a wrap for this Blog Post. I'm kinda liking this stuff. Just wish i could figure out how to control where the photo's are placed/

Kimmmmmy, H E L L P P P P!!!!!

Where Have I been??

I've been gone for way too long now.

My sister Kim and her Husband Brian from that Chicago land are probably the two best bloggers I know. Kim's site title is http://www.asunnythought.com/

and Brians is http://www.herecomesjohnnyyenagain.com/ and they inspire me to try my own blogging, but the bug just hasn't caught on, Soooooo, I'll be trying again here.

Since my last snowy Post in '07, my employer of 30 years sold out. I'm working, thank God, for the new owner. The old company, Loss Recovery Systems name is still in the new name which is now "Property Restoration, Inc & Loss Recovery Systems. It's a fascinating business of performing Disaster Emergency work involving Fires, Floods, Storm, cars into buildings, Crime Scene Clean-up (yeccchh) Mold Remediation and the like. Basically, anything that damages property we get involved with. trying to give peace of mind at a time of turmoil. Here, check out our almost complete website at http://www.propertyrestoration.com/
